Joining Heritage Alliance Lanka means becoming a part of a dedicated community committed to discovery, preservation, and sharing of our historical, archaeological, and cultural heritage. It provides one with an opportunity to drive or support various programs or projects to fulfil this commitment.
There are two pathways to membership.
- Direct application for membership (applicable to General or Associate membership): Individuals can apply directly by completing a membership form.
- Nomination for membership (applicable to Distinguished or Patron membership): An existing member can nominate eligible individuals or organisations for membership.

- General Membership – $20/year
- Associate Membership – No Fee
- Distinguished Honorary Membership – No Fee
- Patron Membership – No Fee

Membership categories and eligibility
- General Membership: Open to adults (aged 18 years or more) who wants to support initiatives for discovery, preservation, and sharing of our historical, archaeological, and cultural heritage.
- Associate Membership: Suitable for those who wish to engage with our initiatives and provide ad hoc support or those aged 15-18 years.
- Distinguished Honorary Membership: Granted to esteemed individuals recognised for their outstanding dedication to discovery and/or preservation of our historical, archaeological, and cultural heritage.
- Patron Membership: Granted to individuals/organisations who have made significant contributions to projects and programs of Heritage Alliance Lanka.

Eligibility for Membership & Benefits of Membership
Heritage Alliance Lanka offers different membership categories to suit individuals and organisations who support our mission. Given below are the membership categories, eligibility criteria, and benefits.
1. General Membership
Eligibility:
- Open to individuals aged 18 years or older.
- Must support the Association’s objectives and pay the membership fee.
Benefits:
- Right to attend and vote at general meetings.
- Eligible for election to the Management Committee.
- Opportunity to serve on various sub-committees.
- Access to documents and reports of the Association.
- Receives official communications and newsletters.
2. Associate Membership
Eligibility:
- Open to individuals aged 15 years or older.
- Must support the Association’s objectives.
Benefits:
- Can request to attend general meetings as an observer.
- Can submit suggestions for the Association’s progress.
- May be invited to participate in Association’s activities.
- Receives official communications and newsletters.
3. Distinguished Honorary Membership
Eligibility:
- By invitation only.
- Offered to distinguished professionals in history, archaeology, culture, or related fields.
- Any member can nominate a suitable candidate.
Benefits:
- Can provide expert advice and guidance to the Association.
- May be invited to attend meetings and events.
- Receive official communications and newsletters.
4. Patron Membership
Eligibility:
- By invitation only
- Offered to individuals or organisations that have significantly contributed to the Association’s mission.
- Any member can nominate a candidate.
Benefits:
- Can provide strategic guidance and support to the Association.
- May be invited to meetings and events.
- Receives official communications, newsletters, and updates of activities of the Association.
Note: All members can identify themselves with their membership category but must obtain written consent from the Management Committee before representing the Association in any capacity.
